Second hand ceramic workshop

Using ceramic decals as a pattern and image-making tool, we will transform manufactured white porcelain pieces into your own unique designs.

For this workshop, please bring a white glazed ceramic piece from home.
If you don’t have one, don’t worry—there will be pieces available for purchase at the studio.

Why a white glazed ceramic piece?

  • White glaze works best as a clean canvas.
    Decals are slightly transparent, so any coloured background will alter the final colour of the image.

  • Avoid pieces with metallic or decorative details such as gold or silver lining, printed patterns, or existing decals.
    These can react during firing and may damage the piece, the kiln, or affect the new decal.

  • Choose pieces without scratches whenever possible.
    Decals can highlight or emphasise scratch marks.

  • Smooth surfaces are ideal.
    The fewer the textures, the easier it is to apply the decal cleanly and evenly.

Please allow about two weeks for your pieces to be completed. You will receive an email when they are ready for pickup.
